Scarf Ability
Do you own dozens of lovely scarves but don’t know how to make the most out of them? Do you always wear your scarves the same way? If you need a stroke of inspiration, take a look at this lovely vintage booklet, Scarf Ability – 25 Ways to Tie a Scarf, published back in 1960’s by Sears and Roebuck.

Despite the fact that the booklet is more than forty years old, I find it so up to date and very inspiring. As the booklet simplifies, accessories can give a personal touch to any outfit. “A woman’s way with accessories can become her personal fashion signature”, the author explains and continues: “In today’s fashion picture, a scarf worn in combination with a hat, a handsome belt or rows of chains, a dramatic pin, flying from a handbag strap or luggage handle, expresses today’s mood”. So what are you waiting for? Get accessorising and have fun!
Think about this season’s must have, the LBD, accessorised with a glorious Isadora, or common work outfit spiced up with The Stole. I’m hooked!
If you think after glancing through the booklet that you are running short of ideas, search inspiration from books, such as Sensational Scarfs, to teach you how to turn a scarf into a fabulous fashion look. Tech wizards might find scarf tying cd guides, such as 80 Ways to Tie Your Scarf , extremely handy.
Accessorising is all about experimenting, so get creative and have a blast!
