Pimp My Skirt!

I’m a sucker for skirts and every time I go around second hand shops or thrift stores I have my eye on skirts or good looking fabrics from which I could stitch a simple skirt for everyday use. A couple of months ago I found this interesting retro wraparound skirt I thought I could wear.

I didn’t even bother to try it on because a) I fell in love with its lovely pattern and b) this tag inside the garment just charmed my pants off. The skirt, as well as yours truly, came from Tampere.

But yea, I should have known my body type better. The thing is, I can’t (or won’t) wear any extra layers on my hips as I like to think I have enough on that department already. So what a smart gal could do in this situation? Pimp her skirt, of course!

Now I’m not any stitch wiz or hardcore craftswoman so I need a few days to actually realize my plan. But in my mind it goes something like this: A few snips here, a couple of stitches there, a hint of patience et voilà!: a beautiful and totally wearable a-lined skirt is ready to hit the streets. Be back on Thursday to see if it worked!

Yes, I do! Skirts are the simplest (apart from maybe tube tubs, hehe), so they get reworked on the most… My only advice is to wait just a bit before you introduce the scissors… One of my fave dresses was originally bought to be turned into a blouse, but I never got around doing that, and now I’m so happy!

Thanks for your advice, Vasiliisa! I actually got stuck with the damn zipper so it takes me a day or two more than I expected to get that skirt officially pimped.
