Fashion Houses Love David Lynch
David Lynch is best known for his obscure movies but he also knows how to make intriguing commercials. Interestingly, Lynch is no stranger to fashion ads either. Lynch’s first commercials were a series of four directed for Obsession by Calvin Klein and since launching Obsession ads in 1988 Lynch has directed commercials for Giorgio Armani, Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld, to name a few. Last autumn Lynch teamed up with Gucci and came up with an ad with all the guaranteed Lynchian elements: stroboscopes, close-up shots, and seductive women. Voilà!

A bit scary, like Lynch’s works always are. :)
Tell me about it! There’s something wicked in the air…
Aika hieno mainos, hieman Twin Peaks- mainen tunnelma.
I absolutely love Lynch’s films but I don’t really think this advert is very good. It’s a bit in the “Inland Empire” style but I reckon the it didn’t take him much time to create the concept for it.
I agree with you. I love the shots of the city, the stroboscopes and the last 15 seconds of the flick but I would definitely clip off those excessive dancing scenes. I just noticed that there is a “making of” flick on the YouTube as well.
